In a narrative focused on a dam's closing, the protagonist spends an extra day in their hometown, where excitement erupts as people from the Shen clan search the newly exposed riverbed for ingots. While many find gold, Sun Pang Zi remains skeptical, recalling ghost stories that warn against greed. As the crowd's fervor grows, they discover an abundance of ingots near a large waterhole.
