Chapter 1: Ancestral Tomb. [8]
Summary
In late 1975, a village in Wuyuan, Jiangxi, was ordered to relocate graves near Linggu Cave. Zhu Hansheng, a 20-year-old apprentice to his barefoot doctor father, helped dig up their family's ancestral grave. During the process, they encountered unusual circumstances: a dark wooden board, potential corpse vapor, and a strangely positioned skeleton. Hansheng carefully collected his great-grandfather's bones while his father managed the process, warning about potential toxic vapors from decomposing remains. The grave relocation occurred amid changing autumn weather, highlighting the cultural and historical complexities of traditional burial practices during China's revolutionary period.Full content
