Summary

In Tianjin, a boatman dreams of a mysterious figure who warns him of a traveler with a bamboo coffin demanding a thousand gold coins. Skeptical yet intrigued, he later dreams of three characters meant to reveal the traveler's true nature. The next day, a traveler arrives, and after a tense exchange, the boatman traces the characters on the traveler's hand, causing him to vanish. The boatman discovers numerous tiny coffins containing drops of blood. Despite spreading the story of the characters, no one comprehends them. Eventually, the deceit of the Wu rebels is uncovered, leading to their downfall and numerous executions. Xu Bai Shan reflects on this bizarre situation.
