Summary

A teacher named Xu Sheng is invited by an old man to teach his nephew. During his stay, he becomes intimate with a young maid named Ai Nu. Later, he discovers the supernatural nature of the household, with the maid revealing she died young and was buried on the estate. After her death, Xu finds her perfectly preserved corpse and attempts to revive her. The maid explains her preservation is due to the gold and jewels buried with her, and that returning to life is impossible as spirits cannot truly resemble living humans.
