Chapter 000: Liu Xiucai. [130]

Summary

In the late Ming Dynasty, a magistrate dreamt of a scholar with a strategy to combat locust swarms. Following the dream's guidance, he encountered a woman on a donkey, believed to be the locust goddess. After pleading with her and offering wine, she cryptically mentioned Liu Xiu Cai revealing her secret. Surprisingly, when locusts arrived, they did not damage crops but instead stripped willow trees bare, suggesting Liu Xiu Cai might be the locust god. The event was seen as a manifestation of compassion for the people, with local scholars praising Liu's potential great merit.
