Chapter 000: Li Sijian. [107]
Summary
On September 28th, in the fourth year of Kangxi, Li Si Jian, a scholar from Yongnian, killed his wife, Li Shi. Following this, he seized a butcher's knife and, in the City God Temple, claimed divine punishment for his misdeeds. He mutilated himself, cutting off his ear for believing treacherous people, a finger for deceiving others for money, and ultimately castrated himself for adultery. He collapsed in a stupor, as Governor Zhu Yun Men had already submitted a report for review after receiving an imperial decree. Li Si Jian's tragic end underscores the profound consequences of guilt and societal pressures.Full content
