Summary

Jin Shi Cheng, a man from Changshan, transformed into a wandering monk, indulging in grotesque behaviors, believing that consuming unclean things represented beauty. His bizarre actions attracted foolish women, who became his disciples and funded a grand hall. The local magistrate, Nan Gong, disapproved and ordered Jin to repair a sacred temple, prompting his disciples to rally support. Within ten months, the palace was constructed with remarkable speed, surpassing the magistrate's efforts. The Chronicler of Odd Histories criticized Jin's vile conduct, highlighting the disgrace for the gentry as the academy declined while Jin's influence persisted.
