Summary

In a tragic tale from Jin, Zhang Lao Xiang Gong lost his wife and daughter to a monstrous river turtle while traveling to his daughter's wedding. Devastated, he sought revenge by consulting a temple monk who warned about the turtle's power. Zhang ingeniously crafted a plan, using a blacksmith to forge a heavy iron weight. With help from strong men, he threw the weight into the turtle's path. The creature swallowed the iron weight and ultimately died, with its waves subsiding. Local monks and residents celebrated Zhang's heroic act, building a shrine and honoring him as a water deity who would answer prayers.
